Kara Murphy

Kara is a Canberra-based performer, most recently seen in Free Rain’s & Juliet in the trio of Romeo’s exes and as the Juliet understudy. Kara’s passion for singing and dancing began at just 2 years old, and she hasn’t looked back since. Her love for theatre began in high school, with her first role ever being in the ensemble of CATS (St Clare’s College, 2015), which led to her CAT award-winning performance as Belle in Beauty and the Beast (St Edmund’s College, 2020). Kara has appeared in a range of roles, including as an ensemble member in Dogfight (Dramatic Productions, 2023), Electra (trio) in CATS (Canberra Philharmonic Society, 2023), Rusty in Footloose (Queanbeyan Players, 2023), Natalie in Next to Normal (Queanbeyan Players, 2024), Dance Captain/French Aristocrat in The Addams Family (Canberra Philharmonic Society, 2025) and ensemble member in 9 to 5 (Queanbeyan Players, 2025).
