Sally Cahill is an accomplished Australian actress whose career spans more than five decades across stage, film, and television. A graduate of NIDA in 1975, she has built a reputation for versatility, professionalism, and enduring screen presence.

Cahill made her mark early in theatre, performing with some of Australia’s most respected companies including Melbourne Theatre Company, Sydney Theatre Company, and Nimrod Theatre. Her roles ranged from Ophelia in Hamlet to Hedvig in The Wild Duck, and included standout performances in Extremities at
Playbox Theatre. She was part of Sydney Theatre Company’s landmark production of Nicholas Nickleby, a feat of ensemble storytelling that remains a career highlight.

She has worked with renowned directors here in Australia and in the UK – John Sumner, Ray Lawler, Michael Blakemore, Sir Peter Hall and Neil Armfield to name a few.

On screen, Cahill is perhaps best remembered for her role as Barbara Davidson in Prisoner, and later as Maureen Evans in Home and Away. She has appeared in beloved Australian television staples including The Sullivans, A Country Practice, Water Rats, All Saints, and Certain Woman, bringing nuance and warmth
to every role.

Her film credits include The Sum of Us and The Departure, working alongside major talents while contributing her signature emotional depth. Known for her grounded performances and dynamic range, Cahill continues to be recognised as a stalwart of Australian performing arts, with a body of work that
reflects both craft and heart.
