The 12 Hour Hub-Athon – 2025


Save the Date: Saturday 31 May, 2025! It’s that time again when we get together to raise important funds for our future with 12 hours of non-stop play readings performed at the Old Causeway Hall!

From 12 pm until 12 am on Saturday 31st May, we will deliver moved play readings of a range of new and classic works. During the Hub-Athon, we invite you to make a donation to support live theatre in Canberra. You can join us online at any time to encourage us on our journey, or join us in-person at the Hub at any time throughout the day. Stay tuned for play announcements!

We will deliver the 12 Hour Hub-Athon as a chance to demonstrate our fierce commitment to the feat of creative endurance that is independent theatre making. An opportunity for the Hub collective to roll up our sleeves, the Hub-Athon will feature a marathon of continuous play reading by our actors. As a collective of independent theatre companies, we understand the critical importance of perseverance, and we also understand that without the grassroots support of our community, we will be unable to operate a Hub that you can be proud of. On Saturday 31 May, we will undertake 12 hours of non-stop play readings to show you that we are willing to push ourselves to ensure our sustainability as a proud producer of independent theatre, even amongst the changing economic and social landscape.

Heading into our fourth year of operation since bursting onto the Canberra theatre scene in 2022, we at ACT Hub have strived to work with a whole range of Canberran theatre practitioners to tell stories that matter. We are deeply committed to the Hub – and all it stands for, and we want to show you all how dedicated we are to being the home of independent theatre in the ACT – now, and into the future. This is a pivotal moment for us, and we require our community’s support more than ever.

  • contributes to a more sustainable future for ACT Hub through varied income streams
  • allows us to deliver new programs, which we will be able to announce following our fundraising campaign; and
  • invest in our long-term sustainability through purchasing our own technical equipment and reliably providing high-quality productions.
