After Rebecca

Daphne Du Maurier’s gothic novel ‘Rebecca’ meets ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ in this searing new solo show. A handsome millionaire starring in a reality TV show runs away with a production assistant – a young woman so unremarkable that no one remembers her name. At first, she is swept away by the fantasy. But on his remote cattle station in the Australian outback, she encounters an unsettling undercurrent of violence, gaslighting and complicit bystanders. ‘After Rebecca’ tackles coercive control, systems that fail to protect women – and the consequences of speaking out.

“Beautiful and raw and heartbreaking … I am deeply glad that I went … It is an important and deeply moving story, has a brilliant script and production design, and showcases a powerhouse performer.”
– Audience testimonial, La Mama HQ, 2023

“Emma Gibson’s script is beautifully written, with characters that translate well into real life; people you might know, or perhaps elements of yourself that you might not be aware about.”
